Our story

It started with a few men
who decided to pray.

Chapter one · The beginning

No plan. Just presence.

A small group of men started meeting for prayer, worship, and fellowship. Nobody was building a ministry. They were just tired of walking alone.

Week after week they showed up — on a field, in a garage, around a table. They prayed for each other's marriages, their kids, their work, their battles. They sang badly and meant every word. And slowly something changed: men who came in guarded started to open up, and men who had been running from God started running toward Him.

Chapter two · Homes open up

Then the wives came. Then the kids.

The men's group couldn't stay a men's group. What God was doing in them spilled into their families — and living rooms became sanctuaries.

Community Praise & Worship Nights were born out of that: a guitar in the corner, a TV with the lyrics, a couch full of kids, and a room of people laying hands on whoever needed prayer that night. Testimonies got shared. Meals got cooked. Nobody left a stranger.

Family Nights followed. Then Saturday men's breakfasts. Then retreats, cookouts, and dinners at each other's houses. It never stopped being simple — it just kept growing.

Chapter three · Outward

A community that serves its community.

A people who have been loved well can't keep it to themselves. So we went where the need was.

We started feeding the homeless — serving meals, sitting down, praying with people by name. We began walking alongside men and women in recovery through Regeneration, helping people find real freedom from hurts, habits, and hang-ups through Christ. We learned that serving is not a program; it is what love does when it grows up.

Today Cornerstone is families, friends, and believers across Rockwall County who want to follow Jesus together and make a difference in their homes, their churches, and their city. Dozens of people packed into a backyard at dusk — that is what a few men praying on a field turned into.

Who we are

Not professionals. Brothers.

Cornerstone is led by ordinary men — husbands, dads, working guys — who have seen what God can do with a surrendered life and want everyone else to see it too.

Justin Hall hosts and leads; Major Dodge preaches the Word — the truth we hide in our hearts and carry to others; Caleb Folks leads worship; Jonathan Douglass keeps time on the drums; and a crew of men cook, set up, and pray. We are not a church and we are not trying to be one. We love the local church and serve inside it. Cornerstone is the space in between: the living room, the breakfast table, the park — the places where people who would never walk into a building on Sunday can meet Jesus on a Tuesday night.
